Foodies, I present The BIGGEST Thali Meal in Chennai!

During our recent trip to India, Raam and I were on the look out for unique foodie experiences. We came across something that absolutely blew our minds away: The Biggest Thali in Chennai that boasted of 50 delicious items!

We did some research on the “Bahubali Thali” and found out that it was only being offered at the Ponnusamy Hotel in the Nungambakkam area, so we called up immediately and made a reservation (highly recommended!). It was around a 45 minute drive from where we were staying, but definitely worth it.

We got there, eagerly climbed up to the second floor and made our way in. We immediately came across a room full of people, especially families, sharing a huge plate of delicious, colorful food. We couldn’t wait to get our hands on this famous Thali!

While it was a little inconvenient for the restaurant staff to allow us to film how all the items were prepared due to the rush, they did though allow us to enter the kitchen and watch the huge Thali make its way to our table. It was so big and heavy that it had to be carried by two people!

Interesting Facts:

• Consists of 50 items of which half are non-veg and half are veg

• One plate is ideal for a family of 3-4 people

• Cost is 1400 Rupees = 20 US Dollars

• Served in a 32 inch plate

• Quantity per bowl is around 60 and 400 grams

In addition to the food being absolutely finger-licking good, we also were very impressed by the service. They made an effort to explain to us what all 50 dishes were and answered any questions we had about the restaurant as well as their food policies.

Definitely a unique experience that you cannot miss out on when you are in Chennai!
